Journey of Private Labelling

Journey of Private Labelling

I thought it might be interesting to share with you the Journey of a Private label Candle. It’s a bit different than just creating a scented candle that I like and then selling it.

I meet with the client to discuss their needs and purpose for having a Private Label candle created. It could be for corporate gifting or to enhance their brand. Some clients are happy to receive samples to test without the meeting, they usually all have a firm idea of what scents they do and don’t like.

My scents are from an International Scent House, cosmetic grade and not tested on animals. Once the Client has chosen the scent I go to work ‘test burning’ it. Its important to see that a candle burns well with their chosen scent. Then they test it too to see if it is what they require.

I use 100% soy wax which gives an excellent ‘cold scent throw’ you can read more about that in my blog. Read why some scents don’t last here

Candle Size

Whatever the client chooses, it could be a 220g glass candle with Silver Lid or a 114g Travel Candle.

I work with a local Printer West Port Print in St Andrews to do the labelling. They are fabulous and a dream to work with. The local clients like to have my name on the label as a ‘locally sourced product’ but the London client prefers not to. What ever they require really.

The correct size of wick for the vessel is paramount, read my blogs here on candles tunnelling, its the most common issue with candles not burning correctly.

By regulation the candle has to have the manufacturers details on the base of the candle. If the candle is boxed those details then have to appear on the box too. I use a separate company that details the scent and regulations on this labelling too.

It can be a year before the first meeting with the client and delivery of candle. I personally quote 8-10 weeks from start to finish but it all depends on the clients events and what projects I have running.

Contact me if you would like to discuss a Private Label Candle created for your company for corporate gifting, Luxury Hotel or wedding.  I’d love to work with you!
